We build software to help people get legal paperwork done.
Legal paperwork is a slog, but it needs to get done. Our mission is to make it as easy and painless as possible, building software to handle the mundane clerical tasks. More businesses get started, more deals get done, and more interesting work for attorneys.
We have products for both startups and attorneys.
Our products for startups help them get routine legal paperwork done either on their own or in collaboration with their attorneys.
With free Attorney accounts, startup attorneys can easily review and keep track of paperwork their clients are doing.
Origins
Chris and Darby were startup attorneys working in the Silicon Valley office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, a major US law firm.
While working at Orrick, they noticed an unfortunate dynamic. Their work involved a lot of work that was clerical in nature, which left them with less time to do more interesting work. As a result, even though they weren't padding their hours, clients were still getting surprised by the size of the legal bill. This led clients to do paperwork on their own or online, which invariably would lead to legal problems that were expensive and time-consuming to fix.
Engineers by training, they realized they could solve these problems by building software to handle the clerical aspects of legal paperwork. The rest is history!
